General Terms for Ordering
Thank you for choosing Workbenches.com! We manufacture made-to-order lab, industrial, and commercial furniture solutions. These terms and conditions reflect the nature of our business—including the fact that the furniture we build is custom and non-resalable—and include policies around manufacturing, shipping, and installation. By purchasing from us, the Client (“you”) agrees to enter into a legally binding contract with Workbenches.com.
Terms
Our standard terms on credit orders are Net 30, F.O.B. Origin (F.O.B. Ship Point, Prepay and Add), from our factory in Austin, Texas, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
Credit Policy
Full payment is required at the time of order. For orders exceeding $2,500, credit terms may be extended upon completion of a New Customer Form. A 50% deposit is required on all orders unless other arrangements have been approved in writing. Orders will not be scheduled for production or shipment until payment or deposit is received.
Standard Packaging and Shipping
Small orders typically ship via less-than-truckload (LTL) freight carriers; larger orders may ship via full truckload (dedicated truck). Unless installation services are contracted, the client is responsible for receiving, de-crating, and assembling any partially assembled shipments. If no one is available at the delivery location, redelivery charges may apply. LTL shipments are crated to reduce damage. Full truckloads may be blanket wrapped or palletized.
Collect Shipping
If you elect collect shipping, you agree to pay a $250.00 (net) service fee for the coordination. We do not recommend collect shipping. By choosing this option, you acknowledge the risks associated—including higher rates of late shipments, misrouting, shortages, and damages—and assume full responsibility for those outcomes. Workbenches.com is not liable for delays, damages, or service issues related to your carrier. You are also fully responsible for all costs or charges from your carrier.
Damage in Transit
Please inspect your shipment thoroughly upon delivery and before signing the Proof of Delivery (POD). If visible damage exists, note it on the POD and either accept or refuse the delivery by writing “REFUSED FOR DAMAGE.” Notify Workbenches.com immediately. For concealed damage, contact the freight carrier immediately before notifying us, and we’ll support you through the claims process. Workbenches.com cannot be held liable for damage claims made after the delivery date. Any damage-related claims are limited to the original purchase price.
Installation and Assembly
If you require installation or assembly services, you must request them prior to placing your order. Contact your sales representative for a quote.
Expedites
Expedited orders may be accommodated depending on production capacity. A standard 20% expedite fee (based on list price) applies. Expedite approval is subject to timely payment or deposit and capacity confirmation. Please consult with your sales representative in advance.
Change Orders
Changes to your order after approval may impact design, production, and delivery. You agree to pay mutually agreed fees for client-initiated Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). Your order will be placed on hold during this process, which may delay your delivery date. Your sales representative will communicate any schedule changes.
Cancellations
Workbenches.com may cancel your in-process order upon request, with applicable fees based on progress. All cancellation requests must be made in writing. Once cancellation terms are provided, written confirmation is required within 5 business days to proceed.
Cancel Stage | Fee | Criteria |
Prior to Release | 25% of PO (excl. shipping) | No production started; no special-order parts ordered. |
Production Started | 50% of PO (excl. shipping) | Production begun; raw material or special-order items consumed. |
Production Complete | 100% of PO (excl. shipping) | Any portion of the order completed; non-returnable items fabricated. |
Exceptions:
In the event of a formal contract, cancellation terms may follow contractual provisions. Where client terms conflict with Workbenches.com terms, our terms take precedence.
Returns
Due to the custom nature of our products, returns are generally not accepted. Exceptions may be made for items damaged in transit or accessories returned in resalable condition. All returns require a written Returned Goods Authorization (RGA).
Warranties
You agree to use our products at your own risk. Workbenches.com’s liability is limited to the purchase price of the items in question.
Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, specifically Travis County.
